Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) is a mandatory introductory program for all students enrolled for Fall 2019. The program is for two days (with an overnight stay) and is designed to introduce you to The Felician Way. You will discover academic expectations, develop a connection to your campus, and meet your fellow incoming classmates.
Orientation has three slots: June 14-15, June 26-27, or July 11-12.
What to Expect
You can expect to have plenty of fun at orientation while learning all about Felician University. Get ready to
- Meet your First Year Advisor
- Create your schedule
- Enjoy a lunch with the rest of your incoming classmates
- Participate in fun activities that are both academic and social
Will I be able to register for classes at SOAR?
Yes! You will be able to meet with your Academic Advisor and build your schedule your way. You will also have the opportunity to get all the information you need about our general education requirements prior to meeting with your advisor.
What do I need to bring to SOAR?
We suggest you bring the following:
- Felician Student Email and WebAdvisor login information (mailed to your home)
- Change of Clothes
- Bedsheets - Twin XL
- Pillow Case
- Cell Phone
- Cell Phone Charger
- Any needed medications
- Reusable Water bottle
Can I bring a family member, guest, or friend to SOAR?
Unfortunately, no. SOAR is all about you! We want you to experience The Felician Way and be prepared for your first day of the Fall semester.
How do I request on-campus housing?
First year students can apply for on-campus housing through Residence Life. Our housing application opened March 15th so sure to guarantee your space on campus!
What is the fee for SOAR?
SOAR is worth a one credit course and will be charged to your Fall Semester bursar’s bill. You must attend SOAR, WOW (Weekend of Welcome), and complete the co-curricular certificate program in order to receive your full credit.
When is My SOAR?
You may attend one of three SOAR programs: June 14-15, June 26-27, or July 11-12. You can sign up for any of these dates.
Do I have to stay overnight?
Yes! In order see what student life at Felician University means, all students stay overnight in our on-campus double occupancy rooms, including commuter students. Why is SOAR two days?
This two-day program is the best way to give students the chance to have fun, learn about Felician and coursework, and socialize with incoming classmates.
What if I require special accommodations?
If you have a concern, situation, or condition that might affect if and how you participate in the overnight orientation, the Student Development and Engagement office will help coordinate any arrangements you may need. Call or email for this request prior to registering for SOAR.
