Campus Ministry at Felician University continues to reach out in charity and love to the poor and homeless. In conjunction with the Felician Care Center in Lodi, NJ, sandwiches, fruit and beverages were recently provided to the homeless in Penn Station in Newark, NJ. The Sisters at the Care Center provided 50 meals and Felician University students, through Campus Ministry, provided an additional 50 meals. This trip to Newark was the second coordinated by Felician’s Campus Ministry this year, with more planned for the spring semester.
A month-long Christmas toy drive coordinated by Campus Ministry resulted in hundreds of toys and stuffed animals being donated by Felician’s students, faculty and staff for needy children in Newark, NJ. This impressive mountain of gifts was donated to Zion Baptist Church in Newark. Pastor Gyant of Zion Baptist Church and his wife Pauline stated, “There are going to be so many happy children because of the generosity of the Felician Community.”
Fr. Richard Kelly, director of Campus Ministry, Sr. Teresa Soltys, Felician campus minister and Danny Cotto, a member of Campus Ministry, helped pack the Pastor’s truck until it was overflowing! Fr. Rich stated, “What a great testimony to the generosity of our Felician community as we strive to live out our Felician Franciscan values.”
Campus Ministry will continue its social justice initiatives to the poor and homeless in the upcoming spring semester.
