Robert Evans, BS, CPA

Robert P. Evans retired after over 38 years with the Firm, as an audit partner in the Short Hills office’s Industrial and Consumer Markets Practice of KPMG LLP for which he served international, publicly-held and privately-held companies.

Mr. Evans, a partner since 1983, was designated by the Firm to be one of the initial partners to have the title of an International Audit Partner. Among the characteristics required of those designated International Audit Partner are partners who have significant international client responsibility, a history of demonstrating high and continuous interest in international activities and issues, and a proven track record of leadership in international activities. Because of his background, Mr. Evans was chosen by the Firm to be the U.S. International Liaison Partner for Germany and the Lead Partner on two of its Global Accounts.

Mr. Evans also served as the Leader of the Industrial Products and Automotive Segment for the Northeast. He also served on the Firm’s National Industrial Products and Automotive Leadership Team and on the Firm’s Automotive Committee. He has also served as the Partner-In-Charge of the Short Hills office’s Private Business Practice, as the Northeast Region’s Sales (Go To Market) Partner for the Metro Area and as a liaison to the Firm’s Japanese and Korean Practices.

Mr. Evans has served seven terms as Chairman of the New Jersey World Trade Council. The New Jersey World Trade Council is a non-profit organization comprised of prominent private and public companies and government agencies, which promotes international commerce as well as foreign investment in New Jersey. He has been publicly recognized for his leadership of this organization.

Mr. Evans was appointed by former Governor Christine Todd Whitman, State of New Jersey, to be an Ambassador to her Prosperity New Jersey initiatives. He was also appointed by former Governor Whitman to the International Trade Subcommittee of the New Jersey Economic Master Plan Commission. Mr. Evans was also appointed and served on the New Jersey District Export Council by the United States Department of Commerce, to the Corporation for Business Assistance by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority and to the Advisory Board of "TradeLink", a program developed by Public Service Electric & Gas to promote exports. He has represented KPMG and the State of New Jersey on overseas trade missions and he co-authored sections of the guidebook entitled Europe in the 1990's - Implications and Strategies for New Jersey Businesses which was jointly written by KPMG LLP and the State of New Jersey Division of International Trade. He has also participated in panel discussions concerning international issues and lectured and written articles on international matters. He has been recognized by Business News New Jersey as Who’s Who among New Jersey’s Business Leaders and is a recipient of Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Pinnacle Award.

Mr. Evans served a number of companies in the manufacturing retail and distribution industries. Mr. Evans also has extensive experience in the automotive, metals, and merchandising sectors. Clients served include BMW, Volkswagen, Renault, Konica Minolta, Thyssen Krupp, and New Jersey Steel.

Mr. Evans graduated magna cum laude from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a BS in Accounting. He has also completed executive KPMG sponsored courses at Stanford University and The Wharton School. He was a member of the Executive Committee of Fairleigh Dickinson's University Club and a former member of the Board of Advisors to the school's Accounting Program. He was also a member of the Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Council of Presidential Advisors.

Mr. Evans was also Chairman of The Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce, Director and serving on the Finance Committee of the Commerce and Industry Association, former Treasurer of the Multiple Sclerosis of Society of Bergen and Passaic Counties, and a member of the Porsche Club. Mr. Evans, after serving as Chairman has stayed active and currently serves on the Executive Board and on the Finance, Strategic Planning and Compensation Committees of The Meadowlands Regional Chamber Of Commerce. Mr. Evans is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Society of CPA's, a member and past President of the New Jersey Meadowlands Chapter of the National Association of Accountants, and past Treasurer of the Shakespeare Festival.
