Melany Rivera-Maldonado

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Dr. Rivera-Maldonado decided to move to New Jersey in 2015 to continuing developing her professional and academic career. While facing the challenges of the language barrier, she also found a passion to working with Latinx children and their families. In addition to teach at the Masters and Doctoral Program in Counseling Psychology, she also coordinates the YCS Dr. Helen May Strauss Clinic, an outpatient mental health clinic that serves children ages 0-21 and their families. As part of her role at Youth Consultation Service (YCS), she is part of the training faculty for the YCS Institute Psychology Internship Program, accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). She is also an APA Minority Fellow and a member of the National Latino Psychological Association.
