The Dualities of Italian Art

Leture by Artist & Writer: Mr. Thomas Micchelli

Mr. Micchelli will address the swings in Italian art between the darkness and light; the tension  between the ideal and the real, order and chaos, nostalgia and politics, contemplation and action. He will compare artists such as Raphael/Michelangelo, Correggio/Caravaggio, Canova/Bernini,  and de Chirico/Boccioni. He will also discuss Marino Marini, a sculptor and academic who is the subject of a current exhibit at the Center for Italian Modern Art in Manhattan.
