Director of Communications
Felician University is presently seeking a dynamic, highly skilled and detail-oriented communications professional to serve as Director of Communications. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing various campaign communications strategies and materials for Felician University, including print, web, social media, and other creative vehicles which engage internal and external constituents of the University, with a keen focus on donors and prospective donors. He/she collaborates with multiple constituencies, including but not limited to: University senior leadership, faculty, staff and volunteers both internally and externally. The Director of Communications is the key stakeholder in the management of the University’s brand presence in all venues---locally, regionally, and nationally---through online, broadcast and print news media, social media and the University's internal communications vehicles such as digital newsletters and its website.
Minimum of five to seven years of relevant experience, preferably in public relations, and in a higher education setting; well-developed organizational skills; demonstrated understanding of key issues in higher education, with the ability to work successfully in a university setting; proven creative, strategic thinker with excellent planning and analytical abilities; demonstrated administrative, leadership and interpersonal skills; excellent interpersonal skills; experience with crisis communications required; well-developed verbal and written communications skills; high degree of personal motivation, self-management and detail-orientation; ability to take responsibility for and work effectively on multiple multi-faceted and detail driven projects without direct supervision; ability to effectively interact and collaborate with a broad constituency of individuals within and outside the University community, including but not limited to high-level volunteers and donors, community leaders and corporate professionals; expertise with Microsoft applications (e.g., Word, Excel, and Outlook) and proficiency in managing Web-based entities for the purpose of gathering and disseminating news/information; demonstrated capabilities in creating and implementing social and digital strategies across various platforms (Facebook, Twitter etc.)
