Felician University is presently seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative and experienced communications professional to serve as the Communications Specialist for University Advancement. Reporting to the Interim Vice President for University Advancement, the Communications Specialist is responsible for writing, editing, and disseminating informative and creative content that supports the University’s brand and strategic initiatives. S/he writes and edits content for multiple audiences and in various media (online, print and broadcast), including but not limited to: correspondence, brochures, websites, social media, reports and communications.
Minimum three years in writing and/or editing, preferably in an academic venue; ability to conceptualize, write and edit strategic, accurate and succinct content for diverse University audiences; ability to work under time constraints, meet deadlines, conduct multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; superior written and verbal communications skills; demonstrated sense of visual design; comprehensive knowledge of spelling, grammar, punctuation and Associated press and Chicago Manual styles; proven understanding of writing styles and guidelines for various media formats, with the ability to create, coordinate and edit copy for each format; ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team; thorough understanding of institutional strategy (or the ability to assimilate such quickly), with the ability to integrate strategy into various communication vehicles; willing ness and ability to work flex hours as needed, including evenings and weekends, willing ness and ability to support the Franciscan values of the University.
