Master’s in Education Degree for Current Teachers

The Master's of Arts in Education (MAED) at Felician is a quality program designed to build on students’ prior professional experience and extend their sphere of influence beyond the classroom and into school-wide leadership activities. Students in the 36-credit master’s program for teachers take courses that are specific to their grade level of teaching.  If you are not a certified teacher, the master’s program is also offered as the MAED for non-teachers.

After completing this degree program, students understand curriculum development with an awareness of current, national, state and local trends. The Felician University School of Education fosters competent, caring, and compassionate educators to serve a diverse population in accordance with our Franciscan traditions and philosophies.

Courses

At Felician, students are our top priority and our classes reflect that. Our Rutherford campus can be conveniently accessed from major highways in northern New Jersey. What’s more, our courses are offered in the evenings, with some weekend options available as well. Students can choose to enroll either full or part time.

Courses within the M.A. in Education program focus on applicable skills that can be practiced in the classroom. We help teachers develop leadership and instructional skills that will encourage constructive change and collaboration in their schools. Classes include Curriculum Development, Data-Informed Leadership, School Law and Admission, and Literacy for Diverse Populations. You can view the full class list for the program on our curriculum requirements page.

The curriculum is designed to help students gain a New Jersey teaching license. However, international students can complete the program too if they only plan to teach in their home country.
