Web Design Class Builds Website for the City of
Paterson
Rutherford,
NJ – When Caroline Grundeck, Board
Member of the Paterson Chamber of Commerce and member of Leadership Paterson –
a program sponsored by the Chamber to educate individuals about the City of
Paterson – realized a need for an internet presence for the City, she turned
to her brother for assistance, Michael Nyklewicz, an adjunct instructor of art
at Felician College, who teaches web design.
With
the cooperation of Sr. Ann Therese Kelly, CSSF, Chair of the Department of Art
and Music, Nyklewicz’s class decided to assist the Chamber of Commerce with
their project. ”The Chamber sees
this project as a tremendous asset to the community,” said Gundeck, who
believes the site will businesses and individuals with valuable information
about
Paterson
’s history, culture and government.
Beginning
their design process a mere two weeks before Thanksgiving, the students prepared
four concepts which were presented to Paterson Mayor Martin Barnes, and members
of the Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Novemver 28th, during class.
After reviewing the work in process
and the several web address names suggested by the students, the officials
selected one of the design concepts along with a site name, and gave the
go-ahead for the project to proceed. The
class has been busy at work, designing and creating the pages which they are
busily uploading to the server.
Professor
Nykelwicz and the class anticipate completing the site in time for a dinner
which is scheduled for Thursday, December 13th, at which the site
will be unveiled to the entire Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Paterson and City
Government.
