Felician College Dean a Guest on the British Broadcasting Corporation’s
“Sunday” Program
Lodi and
Rutherford, NJ--Dr. Gerard O'Sullivan, Dean of the Division of Arts and
Sciences and Associate Professor of Religious Studies and English at
Felician College, was recently interviewed for BBC Radio 4's “Sunday”
program which aired on September 8, 2002. Dr. O'Sullivan was interviewed
by program host Roger Bolton on the topic of new and alternative religious
practices in United States prisons.
Dr.
O'Sullivan teaches a course in Felician's online graduate program in
Religious Education on “Religious Education for Ecumenism and
Interreligious Dialogue.” He is a charter member of the Religion-Crisis
Task Force, a group of scholars formed after the Waco tragedy for the
purpose of providing timely and accurate information about new religions
to law enforcement and the media. He also serves on the National Referral
Board of the Cult Awareness Network. Dr. O'Sullivan has been an advisor
to programs appearing on the A&E Network, HBO, and the Canadian
Broadcasting Network.
In 1990 he
co-authored a monograph entitled “Satanism in America,” which included a
contribution by Special Agent Kenneth Lanning of the FBI's Behavioral
Research Unit at Quantico, Virginia.
