Calling for Entrants to Dress the Part of a Work of Art
at Felician Festival 2001

Rutherford, NJ –  Felician College’s Fall Festival Committee is looking for entrants to Dress the Part of a Work of Art and have fun participating in Art Alive!  Art Alive! is a tableau competition that is being held at the Felician Festival 2001, on the Rutherford campus of Felician College, at the corner of Montross and West Passaic Avenues, on Sunday, September 23 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Each tableau or living diorama can have one or more participants.  Participants choose a famous/well-known painting or sculpture, and represent it as a living scene.  The background (as in the case of a painting) can be painted as a backdrop and the figure or people can be dressed as the figures in the painting.

For instance, if someone chooses to represent Leonardo DaVinci’s Mona Lisa, the backdrop could be painted as the background of the original painting and the participant would dress as Mona Lisa.  If two people choose Michelangelo’s sculpture of The Pieta, they would not necessarily require a backdrop, but could dress and pose as the sculpture’s figures, perhaps even as if they were wearing white marble garments.

Tableau participants would pose or present their work outdoors on the campus, over a two-hour period from 1-3pm so that judges can make their rounds and the festival attendees can enjoy the view.  Prizes of $250 for first place, $150 for second place, and $100 for third place will be awarded.  Consolation prizes for others will also be on hand.  Please consider joining the fun of Art Alive!  For further information, please contact Sr. Ann Therese Kelly at 201-559-6046, or by email at atk@catholic.org  .
