Felician College to Offer New Certificate Program for the Child Development Associate

Lodi, NJ - The Felician College Office of Continuing Education is offering a new certificate program to aid early childhood workers in obtaining the national credential, the Child Development Associate (CDA).   The CDA is a person who is able to meet the specific needs of children by working with parents and other adults to nurture children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth in a child development framework.

The Felician College program provides students with the required 120 classroom hours covering the 8 subject areas defined by the National Credentialing Program, facilitation and support for preparing the professional resource file and other documentation requirements, and exam preparation.  The CDA is awarded to childcare providers who have demonstrated their skill in working with young children and their families by successfully completing the CDA assessment process. The Felician College program focuses on the pre-school level in the center-based environment.

This twelve-course program begins on September 19, 2001, and runs consecutively until November 2002. All classes will meet on Wednesday evenings 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. in Harmony Hall on the Lodi campus’ Main College Building, 262 South Main Street.
