Felician Festival 2001 –
Something for Everyone
Rutherford,
NJ – Boardwalk games, international food stations, craft vendors and
carnival attractions will transform Felician College’s quaint tree-lined
Rutherford campus into a community fairground during its annual Fall Festival on
Sunday, September 23 from 8:30am to 4:30pm – rain or shine.
A day-long event filled with activities for the entire community to
enjoy, planners expect a large crowd noting the thousands who attended last
year. “With
more than 40 craft and merchandise vendors, international cuisine, boardwalk
games, rides, clowns, live music and more, there is something for everyone,”
said Lisa Caruso, Director of Alumni Relations at Felician College.
The Alumni Association sponsors the event each year along with the Office
of Residence Life .
Students,
alumni and faculty will all get into the act, volunteering to staff the game
booths, paint faces, sell raffle tickets, and help make the day one that will be
remembered by all.
The day will begin with a walkathon at 8:30am to raise funds for the
Rutherford Community Pantry and the Rutherford Social Services Department.
Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am in the Student Center, followed by the
Alumni Hall of Fame Awards and the Alumni Scholarship presentation.
The festival grounds and all attractions will open at 11:00am.
Attractions
throughout the day will include “Art Alive” a unique art exhibit from 1:00pm
to 3:00pm where participants “dress” the part of a work of art, a gong show
beginning at 12:00 noon, robotic boxing and obstacle courses at 1:00pm and a
poetry reading at 3:00pm. Graduates
of Felician College are encouraged to “sign in” at the Alumni Tent for a
special memento and a ticket to the Alumni Tent Party that kicks off at 2:00pm.
The
Rutherford Campus of Felician College is located at the corner of West Passaic
and Montross Avenues in Rutherford.
Admission to the Festival is free, but participants are encouraged to
bring a non-perishable food item for the Rutherford Community Pantry.
Food donations may be dropped off throughout the day at the Alumni Tent.
Walkers
will gather at 8:30am in front of Sammartino Hall at the corner of West Passaic
and Montross Avenues for the start of the walkathon.
