Children
from Poland Come to Felician College
For Third Annual “Summer of
Dreams” Tour
Rutherford,
NJ—Twenty-two underprivileged children from Poland will be hosted at
Felician College during their first journey out of Poland. The third year in which Felician College has taken part, the
cultural exchange program will take the Polish children to some of
America’s most popular tourist sites including the Statue of Liberty,
Ellis Island, lower Manhattan, Great Adventure, and Washington DC.
Dubbed
the “Summer of Dreams Tour,” this special trip was made possible
through close cooperation among
The
American Center of Polish Culture in Washington, DC, the Communication
Without Barriers children’s
foundation, and Felician
College. According to Dr.
Kaya Mirecka-Ploss, Executive Director of the American Center of Polish
Culture, the children, aged 12-15, were chosen through the First Lady of
Poland’s foundation, Communication
Without Barriers, based on family circumstances and performance in
school. For the children—who come from small, rural villages and
have lost one or both of their parents—this will be their first trip out
of Poland.
