Felician College Offers Career-Centered Courses in Health Care Related Fields

Lodi, NJ -- Felician College will offer Medical Billing/Coding, Physical Therapy Aide, and Pharmacy Technician continuing education courses this Fall.

Medical Billing / Coding

The Medical Billing and Coding field is one of the fastest growing careers in the health care industry today, and this course will teach skills needed to solve insurance billing problems, complete common insurance forms, trace delinquent claims, and appeal denied claims. This course will cover the following areas: CPT, ICD-9, third-party reimbursements, and basic claims process for medical insurance.  Saturdays, 9am – 1pm, 10/13 through 12/15.

Pharmacy Technician

The comprehensive course for Pharmacy Technician will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies and community pharmacies, and work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.  This course will cover the following areas: dosage calculations, drug compounding, dose conversions, IV flow rates, medical terminology, reading and interpreting prescriptions, defining drugs by generic and brand names, dispensing of prescription, inventory control, and billing and reimbursement.  Saturdays, 9am – 1pm, 9/15 through 12/15.

Physical Therapy Aide

The Physical Therapy Aide course will enable students to carry out the non-technical duties of Physical Therapy, such as preparing treatment areas, ordering devices and supplies and transporting patients under the direction of rehabilitation centers, hospitals, nursing homes, and some orthopedic clinics. Students will learn specific information about the applicable legal requirements. Saturdays, 9am – 1pm, 9/15 through 12/15.
