Felician Students Construct Baskets of Books for Underprivileged Children

Lodi and Rutherford, NJ—Members of Felician College’s Early Childhood Special Education class made “Easter Book Baskets” to donate to children in St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC).  Under the direction of Assistant Professor Dr. Dulcie Freeman, the students collected children’s books, stuffed animals, and Easter-time goodies to go into the festive “Easter Book Baskets.”  The Easter-time community outreach project is just one of many that Felician College students participate in each year as part of the Felician curriculum’s community-based service learning component.

WIC provides basic nutritious foods to over 160,000 New Jersey residents monthly. In addition, WIC participants learn about nutrition for a healthy life and are encouraged to seek and maintain appropriate medical care.
