Felician College Offers Certificate Program for Early Childcare Providers Seeking National Credentialing

Lodi, NJ - The Felician College Office of Continuing Education will offer courses this spring as part of a certificate program for early childhood workers wishing to obtain the national credential of Child Development Associate (CDA).   The CDA is a person who is able to meet the specific needs of children by working with parents and other adults to nurture children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth in a child development framework.

The Felician College program provides students with the required 120 classroom hours covering the 8 subject areas defined by the National Credentialing Program, facilitation and support for preparing the professional resource file and other documentation requirements, and exam preparation.  The CDA is awarded to childcare providers who have demonstrated their skill in working with young children and their families by successfully completing the CDA assessment process. The Felician College program focuses on the pre-school level in the center-based environment.

Spring courses begin March 20 and run consecutively, averaging one course per month in this 12-course certificate program. Students can opt to begin the certificate program at any one of multiple entry points during the year.  Felician’s comprehensive CDA program provides the required 120 hours of classroom instruction and assists students in the documentation and testing process required to become certified.  All classes will meet on Wednesday evenings 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. in Harmony Hall on the Lodi campus’ Main College Building, 262 South Main Street.

Prospective students for the CDA certificate program must have a high school diploma or equivalency, and be proficient in the English language.

Costs: $100 plus $25 registration fee per course or $1,200 for the entire 12-course certificate program which may be paid in installments.  The registration fee will be waived for those registering for the entire 12-course certificate program—a $300 savings.
