Pi Day Nets 314 Cans for Food Pantry
Thanks to the hard work and generosity of the Felician College students and faculty, many families will receive much-needed food items very soon.
In commemoration of National Pi Day (March 14), Felician’s School of Education Teacher Education Club and Math Club collected 314-plus cans of food items to donate to a neighboring school district’s in-house food pantry.
“Our students’ commitment to service is outstanding,” said Professor Karen Pezzolla, faculty advisor of the Teacher Education Club. “Projects like this show who they are and the possibility of who they can become.”
Compassion, solidarity with the poor and service are among the Franciscan values that are integral to Felician’s mission.
The students embraced those values without question, said Professor Pezzolla. “When we thought of this a few weeks ago, they jumped right in and organized this event. Felician is very proud of all of them,” she noted.
Added Dr. Amelia Allen, Assistant Dean of the Graduate Program and Associate Professor, School of Education: “A big thank you goes out to all the students, faculty and staff who donated to this very worthy cause.”
