Felician Student-Athletes Earn Early Season Kudos

Felician College student-athletes have already begun to make their mark early in the 2013 campaign.

Freshman Mike Secreti  and sophomore Julia Sheridan have been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Cross-Country Rookie and Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 8, the CACC announced.

Secreti, a graduate of Paramus High School, made his collegiate debut at the Fordham University Fiasco at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y. He finished in ninth place out of 69 non-Division I runners, turning in a five-mile time of 27 minutes, 53 seconds. He was the first member of the Golden Falcons to cross the finish line. He is the first Golden Falcon male runner in four years to win the CACC Rookie of the Week award.

Sheridan, a 5-foot-5 goalkeeper from Hasbrouck Heights, is the first CACC women's soccer student-athlete to ever win the honor.

She had a busy weekend as Felician opened its season by splitting two road games. Sheridan combined to face 51 shots and 17 corner kicks and made 15 saves for the weekend while helping the Golden Falcons successfully defend 16 of the 17 corners.
