 Certificate
in Liturgical Studies
The
Worship Office of the Archdiocese of Newark and Felician College are
pleased to offer a Post Baccalaureate / Post Master's Certificate in
Liturgical Studies. The continuing reform of the Church's liturgies
since the Second Vatican Council requires continuing education in the
field of liturgical studies. The Worship Office has worked
continually over the years to maintain the liturgical formation of the
Archdiocese through workshops and other educational experiences. Now
a Certificate in the field of liturgical studies is available through a
fully accredited college within the Archdiocese.
Program Description
The Worship Office of the Archdiocese of
Newark has been working in conjunction with Felician College to design a
non-matriculated program leading to a Graduate Certificate in Liturgical
Studies for those engaged in professional and volunteer ministries.
The program will consist of 18 credits in 6 required courses over a 2-year
period.
After the successful completion pf the
course of study, each student will receive a Certificate in Liturgical
Studies. Since this is a non-matriculated program, official
application to the admission office at Felician College is not
necessary. One course will be offered each Fall and Spring.
There will also be one course in the summer. Students will attend
classes on the Felician College campus.

will be done in English.
Cost
With
the assistance of a grant from the Archdiocese of Newark and a discount
offered by Felician College, the cost of the program has been greatly
reduced. Students will be responsible for the remaining tuition, but
additional financial assistance may be available from those parishes or
institutions sponsoring individual students.
Requirements
The Worship Office will determine student
eligibility for grants. Certificate applicants will register with
Felician College through the Liaison for Religious Studies Certificate
Programs.
Applicants must have a bachelor's degree
which includes six credits - or the equivalent - in the study of religion
to enroll in the post-baccalaureate track and a master's degree in a
related field of Theology or Mionistry for the post-graduate track.
Additionally, all students must maintain a grade of B or better in each course and
must complete the certificate program within three years. Students
may begin the program during the Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters.
