GOALS AND OBJECTIVES GOAL ONE : To provide our Business students with a wide range of integrated academic and professional experiences through their participation and competition in SIFE. These experiences include involvement in outreach projects serving the local business community, development of educational programs for middle and high school students, and participation in regional (and, we hope, international) SIFE competitions. Objective 1: To give students experience with the planning, organization, and presenting of original projects in the professional manner of the business world they hope to enter. Objective 2: To expose students to business and community leaders through their participation in the SIFE advisory council and regional competitions. Objective 3: To sharpen students' reasoning skills by allowing them to choose the projects they feel are most effective, then having them defend them on stage in competition. Objective 4: To integrate public speaking for the SIFE students into as many outreach projects as possible. Objective 5: To allow students to become the spokespersons for Felician's Business Department through their involvement with local school systems. Objective 6: To help students find meaningful jobs upon graduation through the SIFE placement facilities. Objective 7: To create a team of SIFE participants that is effective in "selling" the program to incoming freshmen, thereby keeping the program alive at Felician. GOAL TWO : To use SIFE as the business application of Felician's Service Learning. Objective 1: Have all Business students, not just SIFE team members, participate in outreach projects as developed by the SIFE team. Objective 2: To reach as wide and diverse an audience as possible for SIFE service projects, including children, local businesses, other colleges, and the community at large. Objective 3: To create an Honors section of CO240 (Material Foundations...) or BU222 (Macroeconomics), with the addition of a mandatory service components and SIFE participation as the distinguishing features. |
