Student Health
Services
The Center for
Health is located in Elliott Terrace Residence Hall. Any illnesses should
be reported to the Center for Health, as College residence halls are
neither planned nor staffed to permit ill students to remain in their
rooms. The College physician or Nurse Practitioner will assess a
students condition to determine whether s/he should be sent home to
recover from an illness.
Health Center services
are completely confidential. The Center hours are between 9:30 pm -4:00
pm Monday through Friday. Appointments are preferred -- please call
559-3559 -- but walk-ins are always welcome.
Telephone Service
Each student room
on campus is equipped with voice, data and video communication lines.
Students receive unlimited local service and limited on-line computer
access as part of the telecommunications package. This means that
residents may make local telephone calls free of charge and may access the
Colleges network for access to email and other services, provided that
they obtain the appropriate equipment and software. The Office of
Residence Life employs a part-time Internet Technician who assists
students in equipping their computers and must receive a written request
to connect a student to the system. Students may obtain these forms in
the Residence Life Office or their residence hall office.
Students wishing to
place long-distance calls may choose to establish an account with our long
distance carrier. They will be provided with a personal identification
number (PIN), which should remain confidential at all times.
With his/her PIN, a
student may place long-distance calls and will be billed specifically for
only those long-distance calls s/he makes. This means no bill splitting
at the end of each month! But there is more good news. The large volume
of students on account with our long-distance carrier enables them to
receive volume discounts, reducing the regular cost of long-distance
calls. Students are encouraged to take advantage of this service.
Television
Cable service is
available in each room. Students are required to bring their own TVs,
VCRs, and/or DVDs and must supply their own coaxial cable from the wall
jack to their TV. The Colleges basic cable system is free and includes a
variety of family-friendly channel choices. Some premium services are
available to the student at additional cost.
Food Service
The College is pleased
to entrust the food service operation to a contract food service
corporation that is well qualified to serve you in our three food service
locations. Resident students main dining facilities are located on the
ground floor of the Gym/Cafeteria building on the Rutherford campus.
Another large cafeteria exists in the Main College Building on the Lodi
campus. Lastly, there is a wonderful snack bar/deli in the Student Center
known as The Falcons Nest.
The Rutherford Cafeteria serves
breakfast, lunch and dinner every weekday, and serves brunch and dinner on
the weekends, for a total of 19 meals per week. A minimum of three hot
entrees, including meatless options, are served at each meal, as is a
salad bar, deli service line, fast-food grill service line and a variety
of beverages.
The 19-meal plan is required for all
students living in the residence halls. Please contact Sodexho-Marriott at
201 559-6075 or 3555 for details.
Please be advised that where the food
service plan is not mandatory, moneys paid for dropped meal plans will not
be refunded after the first day of classes.
A Word about Computers
Access to the
Colleges system is free to all students, but they must bring their own
computer and monitor, and must have an Ethernet card and RJ45 patch
cable. Our staff will schedule installation as quickly as possible after
arrival, however, depending upon demand each year, it may take up to 2
weeks for initial installation. In subsequent years, installation will
not be necessary each student will simply be able to plug and play
provided no changes have occurred which might prevent it.
