Student Health Insurance

Felician University mandates that all full-time undergraduate students must have medical insurance that includes hospitalization. All full-time Felician University students are assessed an insurance fee, as part of their student fees. A full-time student status is defined as having 12 credits or more.

Part time undergraduates and graduate students taking six or more credits are eligible to enroll on a voluntary basis. Eligible dependents of enrolled students may participate in the plan. To enroll in the voluntary plan please visit First Student. You must pay by check or credit card. This must be completed before Labor Day 9/1/15. Any student that loses coverage during the school year can obtain health coverage by enrolling into the plan, within 30 days of the qualifying event with documentation of prior coverage and information of policy termination.

For the 2015-2016 university year, our plan name is United Healthcare Choice Plus. For the list of preferred providers please visit First Student. For more information including the brochure, insurance/RX card and medical and RX claim forms can be found on this site. Using in-network providers will reduce your out of pocket costs. All claim forms must be filed within 60 days for reimbursement. Medical statements and pharmacy bills should be attached to the claim form and mailed to the address located on the forms.

The insurance plan has a 3 tiered prescription drug benefit. There is a $15 Copay for Tier 1 / $35 Copay for Tier 2 / $60 Copay for Tier 3 up to 31-day supply per prescription and should be filled at a United Healthcare Pharmacy (UHCP). Mail Order Pharmacy for a 90 day supply can be obtained through UHCP at 2.5 times the retail copay. For a list of nationwide participating pharmacies please visit First Student.

Students who have adequate hospitalization insurance coverage, may waive the student insurance fee by completing the Waiver form online. To complete a waiver process, please visit First Student after July 15th, 2015 select your school from the drop down box, click on the “Enroll Now-Health Insurance” or “Waive Your School’s Health insurance” button, and follow instructions.  The waiver deadline for Fall 2015 semester is September 28, 2015. For new and transfer students for Spring/Summer 2016 semester, waivers will be available online after December 1, 2015. The deadline to complete the Spring/Summer waiver is February 16, 2016.  Once you have completed your waiver you will receive a confirmation e-mail. Please retain this as proof that you have waived. Without this confirmation you are not guaranteed that your account will be credited. If you do not complete a waiver prior deadline, you will be automatically enrolled in this insurance plan. Once enrolled there are no refunds or cancellations except entry into the armed forces. The waiver process is only completed on an annual basis for 2015-2016 year.
