Outlook 2001-2002

The 2002 Golden Falcon Softball team hopes to make great strides this upcoming season.  Last season they compiled a record of 11-23 and missed out on post season action.  This year's edition will be looking to play into the month of May.

There are many returning veterans this year.  Katie Quigley returns to the pitching circle for her junior year.  Another key returning player is Jessica Pounds, who was the team's leading hitter last season.  Valerie Esposito, the team's spark plug, returns to the outfield.  Sophomore Kristy Esposito, along with her sister Valerie, will also provide energy and leadership.  Two other key returnees, Tamara Tinajero and Laura King, come back to provide offensive spark.  Lisa Stewart, a Golden Falcon senior, will take charge defensively behind the plate and provide power with her bat.

This year's outstanding recruiting class includes freshman Jackie Scarpari, a pitcher who will provide offense as well   Christina Rey has shown outstanding glove work as an outfielder, and her speed will be extremely valuable to the offense.  Danielle Green, a third baseman and Angela Scudieri, a catcher are both looked upon as key members of this year's team.  Transfer Maria Hunt's speed will certainly be a threat, while junior Kelly Williams will provide depth in the infield in her first year playing softball with Felician.

Coach Kathy May will be leading the team in her first season as head coach after being an assistant last year at Felician College.  She will be assisted by Kelly Dowell, who completed an outstanding catching career at the University of Delaware.  Also at the helm will be Tony Albro who has many years coaching experience.  Heather MacCulloch returns for another season to lead the pitching staff, while Brad Davidson returns to provide enthusiasm and recruiting to the program.
