Directions to download Adobe Acrobat Reader

You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 loaded on your computer in order to complete forms on your computer screen.

If you have an older version of Adobe on your hard drive, uninstall that version before proceeding with these directions.

Downloading is a three part process:
1) Files are downloaded from the Felician server to your hard drive
2) Files must be unpacked and an icon created on your desktop
3) You must accept the conditions of Adobe before it is active

If this is your first attempt at downloading a software product, you may want to create a folder on your desktop to which you'll save the Adobe file. To do this, go to your desktop and right click on your mouse. You will find the word "New" among the list of terms. If you click on that word, you will then be given other choices among which is the word "Folder". Name the folder Set Up Files.

1) Be sure that all other applications are closed before you download Adobe. Now click on the appropriate link below to download the Acrobat Reader software.

Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000

Macintosh PPC

If your machine does not fit into the above categories click here to download a more appropriate version of the Acrobat Reader software.

Once you indicate you wish to download Acrobat Reader, a box will pop up. At the bottom will be the name of a file with an ".exe" extension. At the top of the box, indicate you would like the file saved to your Desktop/ Set Up Files.

2)  Once the file has been downloaded, minimize the internet screen and go into your Set Up Files folder. There you will find a little red box. Double click the box and the various files will begin unpacking from the box.  At the end of the procedure it will ask if you'd like an icon on your desktop and whether it is okay to save your files to the Program Directory. Answer 'Yes".

3)  Once the icon has been created, click on it to go into Adobe Reader and agree to the conditions. Close Adobe Reader and you'll not need to go into it again, but it will be there to help open the various forms used by the Division.

The forms you will complete have been created in Adobe, not  Microsoft Word; the extension on the file name will be ".pdf", not ".doc".  Remember that when you are completing a .pdf file on screen, you must use the Adobe toolbar to save or print a file. In addition, if you put your file on a disk and take it to another computer to print it, that computer must also have Adobe loaded into its program files in order to read your file to print.
