Outlook 2001-2002

This year's Lady Golden Falcons Women's Soccer team looks to improve on their 2000 record of 11-7-1.  The team looks forward to the return of fifteen letter-winners and the addition of two quality players.

1st Team All-Conference selection Valerie Esposito heads a very impressive list of returning players.  Esposito, a junior forward, will be one of the team's captains for the upcoming season and Coach Ben "JR" Dinallo is looking for her to assume that leadership role this season.  The seniors on the squad are: Tamara Tinajero and Soledad Cine.  The juniors on the squad are:  Anna Bartsch, MaryCate Ouellette, Leah Maurin, Stacy Settembrino, Katya Gastulo, Lizbeth Flores, Valerie Esposito and Kelly Williams.  Sophomores on the roster are:  Daniela Videria, Cassie Carpenter, Dana Giaimo, Pam Barcia, Kristin Hardin and Laura King.  The lone freshman on the squad is Melissa Simms.

Coach DiNallo is very excited about the return of Katya Gastulo to the team this season.  Unfortunatley, she was not eligible to compete last year but good things are expected from this talented player.  DiNallo is also pleased with the addition of freshman Melissa Simms.  Simms, a talented mid-fielder and defender from Midlothian VA, is expected to compete for quality playing time right away.

The team did, however, suffer some losses form last year's squad.  Senior Nada Kuzevski was an emotional leader on the team last year and her presence will be missed.  Last year's captain, Caran Godwin, who also was an Honorable Mention All-American and 1st Team All Region, and All- Conference selection, has decided not to return for this season.  A tough and hard-working defender, Godwin's tenacity will be missed.  Christine Wetzel, Jennifer Collins, and Elaine Turowski will also not be returning to the team for this year.

A tough schedule awaits the Lady Golden Falcons, but Coach DiNally believes this team is up to the challenge.  "We have the pieces in place to make a serious run at the conference championship, " said DiNallo, "the time is right for this team to win."
